Now we will learn about the relationships of some of the animals in the Amazon Rainforest
Symbiotic Relationship:
Mutualism Relationship:Leaf Cutter Ants and Leucoagaricus Gongylophorus (Fungi)
The Leaf Cutter Ants cut up the leaves and brings them back to the colony. Since they cannot digest the leaves, they give it to the Leucoagaricus gongylophorus to digest it. When it is broken down, the ants can eat it. So the ants and the fungi both get a "meal".
Predator/Prey Relashinship: The Venus Fly Trap and Fruit Fly
The Venus Fly trap eats the Fruit Fly. The Venus Fly Trap attracts the fly with a sweet -smelling nectar, and the red color on its inside. But the fly is not completely doomed. The fly has wings it can use to try and get away, where as the Venus Fly Trap cannot move at all. Also, Venus Fly Traps stay dormant while they are digesting their meal, so the prey can approach it at this time without getting eaten.
